Reasons To VOTE NO on Bayfront Boat Slips Referendum
* Despite being sworn to govern for the best interests of all the people of Clearwater, City Council is asking the majority of citizens to give up our bayfront view in order that less than one-tenth of one percent can have a boat slip!
* They want us to accept their financial estimates and ignore the City's history of cost overruns!
* They claim they will run the boat slips as a sound business venture, but they have set slip fees 24% above the highest local rates and still assume 100% occupancy. This is called, "Cooking the books" - don't change facts, just change numbers.
* They budgeted $62,000 of our tax money to tell us how to vote.!
* They have designed this new marina with no protection from north winds, while every other coastal city provides north wind protection.

* They ignored Save The Bayfront's request to give you a chance to also vote for a well-designed waterfront park. They repeatedly place other priorities ahead of their promises to improve Coachman Park for the use of all the citizens.
*They want us to believe that 126-141 boat owners, who might go to their boat an average of once every two or three weeks, are going to "revitalize' the downtown business district!
*They haven't mentioned permissions they might need from the Coast guard, Corps of Engineers or the County to put these slips close to the navigational channel where boats go under the bridge.
* They have not said anything about the dirty water and stale odors that will impose on the clean air of Coachman Park because of the prevailing westerly winds coming ashore.
There is REASONABLE DOUBT that the citizens of Clearwater will benefit from this. VOTE NO on bayfront boat slips that subsidize the wealthy boat owners at the expense of the taxpayers of Clearwater.
